Step 1: Entering Ihram
Hajj begins with entering the state of Ihram at the Miqat, accompanied by the intention (niyyah) to perform Hajj and the recitation of the Talbiyah. From this point, certain restrictions apply, including avoiding perfume, cutting hair or nails, and marital relations.
Step 2: Tawaf al-Qudum and Sa'i
Many pilgrims perform an arrival Tawaf (Tawaf al-Qudum) around the Kaaba seven times, followed by Sa'i, walking between the hills of Safa and Marwah seven times, commemorating Hajar's search for water for her son Ismail.
Step 3: Mina on the 8th of Dhul Hijjah
On the 8th of Dhul Hijjah, known as Yawm at-Tarwiyah, pilgrims move to Mina and spend the day and night in prayer and reflection, preparing for the central day of Hajj.
Step 4: The Day of Arafat
The 9th of Dhul Hijjah is the Day of Arafat, widely considered the most important part of Hajj rituals step by step. Pilgrims stand in supplication from noon until sunset on the plains of Arafat; missing this day invalidates the Hajj.
Step 5: Muzdalifah and Stoning the Jamarat

Pilgrims perform the sacrifice (Qurbani), shave or trim their hair, and then return to Makkah for Tawaf al-Ifadah, a core pillar of Hajj, followed by Sa'i if not already completed earlier.
Step 7: Farewell Tawaf
Before leaving Makkah, pilgrims perform Tawaf al-Wada, the farewell circumambulation, marking the conclusion of these Hajj rituals step by step and the return to normal life outside the state of Ihram.
